But that's only the tip of the ice berg, what makes Chamonix one of the best resorts in the world is its off-piste: the potential is simply limitless. The most well known routes being the beautiful Vallée Blanche 17 km long and 2,800 m descent always guarantees a great day out, and the challenging Pas de Chevre giving 2,000 m of steep descent and difficult route finding amongst some of the most gorgeous scenery in the world. There are also 45 km of recognised Cross Country routes through lovely forest trails including the Olympic circuit at Argentiere. These wild mountains also provide amazing Ski Mountaineering of which the Haute Route famously starts in Chamonix.
